Volunteer park cleanups are underway in Ferndale

Volunteers of all ages showed up at Oxford Park, a City of Ferndale park, on Malloy Avenue near Thornton Street to apply fresh coats of paint, trim foliage and generally improve the park.

The event is the second of what is expected to be several similar events this summer by the Ferndale Parks, Recreation and Trails Advisory Board (PRTAB). On May 13th, a similar volunteer effort was held at Flair Park between Poplar Place and Applewood Drive.

Several neighbors and their children showed up as well as several high school students banking volunteer hours. The volunteers’ efforts were led by PRTAB members and City Communications Officer Riley Sweeney.

Future volunteer park clean up events are expected to be announced by the City.
