BNSF and their contractor are nearing completion of over 5 miles of new railroad siding stretching from Washington Street in Ferndale to north of Custer. As a result, two roads will require closing separately for 48 hours each during the first 2 weeks of October.

Brown Road is scheduled to be closed between Malloy Road and Portal Way between 6am on Tuesday, October 3rd until 6am on Thursday, October 5th.

Grandview Road is scheduled to be closed between Vista Drive and Portal Way between 6am on Tuesday, October 10th until 6am on Thursday, October 12th.

According to advisories from Strider Construction, work at both railroad crossings will include removing the existing asphalt both on the east and west sides of the crossing, performing grade work, installing utilities and placing the new railroad track just east of the existing track and then repaving.

Detours will be in place. Drivers should be prepared for delays during high volume times.

Completion of the railroad siding will enable BNSF freight trains to pull out of the way of higher priority trains, such as Amtrak passenger trains.
