McKay’s Variety poised to reopen this week

After taking 9 months off, McKay’s Variety Owner Connie McKay says she’s busy cleaning in anticipation of reopening her family’s long-standing Ferndale store located at 2036 Main Street on Tuesday, June 20th.

“Everyone wanted me to reopen,” McKay said. So, from 11am to 7pm this Tuesday, there will be a celebration with coffee, punch and cookies along with a 10% discount on all items in the store.

McKay said she has a wide variety of high-quality antiques and art as well as primitive and ancient artifacts such as stones used for grinding. “We also have a lot of great books, sewing notions and furniture,” said McKay.

McKay’s Variety originally opened as a general store in the 1950s.

“We are bringing back something from the original McKay’s Variety store too,” McKay said. “We will be stocking penny candy just like we used to.”

McKay’s Variety will be open from 11am to 7pm Tuesdays through Saturdays.
